Welcome to our third installment of Room View, a new series on Fresh American Style where we’re partnering up with some of our favorite design bloggers and challenging them to make over a room in their home with Annie Selke products! Last month we featured blogger Chassity Evans of Look Linger Love, and this month, we had the pleasure of working with Ali Schilling of the popular lifestyle blog A Dash of Details.
Ali wanted to add warmth and texture to her bright and airy living room and we absolutely love the final result. Scroll down for photos of the new space and the 411 on Ali’s design inspiration.
Q&A with Ali Schilling
How would you describe your interior design style?
Our interior design style is classic with a modern twist. Most importantly, I love spaces that feel inviting and lived-in.
Why did you choose your living room for the makeover?
Our living room is the heart of our home and the place we spend the most time. We love to entertain so creating a space that felt most like “us” was so important.
What was the goal for your living room design?
The pre-makeover space felt dark and lacked function. The space doesn’t have a ton of natural light, so we knew we wanted to brighten up the space with soft hues and natural fabrics. We also knew we wanted to create more flow in the room by adding an entry. The Annie Selke jute rug was perfect for the space.
What do you love most about Annie Selke products? Do you have a favorite item?
I don’t know if I could choose my favorite product––seriously they are all soo good, but our new Honeycomb Woven Rug is for sure a top contender.
What is it about the Annie Selke brand and product designs that resonate with your personal style?
My personal style (fashion and interiors) tends to fall in the classic category with a twist of minimal and clean designs. The Annie Selke products are timeless, classic and quality and fit perfectly with my aesthetic. All of the pieces will come with us in the future and I know will work in any home we move to next.
What is your favorite aspect of your newly designed living room?
My favorite part of the room is how inviting the space has become with just a few small changes. The minute we set down the Honeycomb rug, it instantly brightened up the room. Every morning I walk into the living room and smile because I just love the space so much. Oh, and of course the new dog bed for my pups, Molly and Zoey.
And maybe most importantly, do the pups love the new living room set up / their beds?
Molly and Zoey are LOVING the new living room design. They actually no longer sleep in bed with us at night because they love their dog beds so much!
