All these centuries after the advent of patchwork quilts, and even decades after the awesomeness of Marimekko sheets, many people still opt for neutral bedding. We love color, but we get it: neutral sheets, covers, and pillows create a sophisticated, streamlined look and make fast friends with brightly colored decorative accents. As a bonus, neutral bedding encourages calm and relaxation when you need them most.
For this look, we started with our pleated linen bed skirt, duvet cover, and shamsin a gentle driftwood tone. The texture begs to be touched, and the lightweight coziness is just what the decorating doctor ordered on those chilly end-of-summer nights. For textural contrast, we added a soft cotton matelassé coverletand shamsin a diamond pattern, and smooth cotton sheets with graphic embroidery in a closely matched hue. Linen panels on the bed’s canopy give the room a touch of romance, but can be left off for a more modern, architectural look. Either way, it doesn’t get any more simple, refined, and chic.
