If you joined us for yesterday’s post on decorating with shades of green, you know that while we love to celebrate the holidays, ticky-tacky holiday decorations . . . not so much. The same goes for fashion, where it’s fun to give a playful nod to a holiday like St. Patrick’s Day . . . without going over the top into Crazy Costume Lady Land.
St. Patrick’s Day is a doubly difficult holiday for putting together the perfect outfit, both because the emerald hue so associated with the day can quickly become too much of a good thing, and because, with spring on our doorsteps, it doesn’t exactly look like the freshest color choice. So instead of going the usual route with deep greens, we’re taking this fresh new—and nonliteral—approach to dressing for St. Patrick’s Day, including a featherweight wool scarf that’s just the thing for the last few days of late winter. The big bonus: Since this look doesn’t scream “Look at me—I’m dressed for the holiday!” you can easily wear it any day you want to go a little greener.
