Over the years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have worked with some of the most tasteful and knowledgeable people in the home-design biz. One of these is Joan Osofsky, interior designer extraordinaire and owner of Hammertown, a trio of incredible, packed-with-goodies home stores in Pine Plains, New York; Rhinebeck, New York; and Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Now the rest of the world can share in the design love with Joan’s newly released book, Love Where You Live: At Home in the Country, coauthored with Abby Adams and gloriously photographed by John Gruen.
Love Where You Live is an in-depth look at 18 stunning country homes in the Hudson Valley and New England, with plenty of tips from Joan on how to create a warm, welcoming, comfortable abode that’s also crazy-stylish. She covers everything from achieving the quintessential country look through a combination of eclectic and modern decorating elements to how to host the perfect laid-back gathering. “Love where you live” has long been the down-to-earth mantra of Joan’s stores, and it’s no wonder that her book is our new go-to resource for easygoing decor that also reflects the interests—and the soul—of the people who live in it.
Joan will be signing copies of Love Where You Live at several events, so if you’re in the Hudson Valley area, be sure to plan ahead. The first reception and talk takes place in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, at Chesterwood, the former home of sculptor Daniel Chester French—and another local favorite of ours—this Sunday, September 29. And for even more inspiration, don’t forget to check out the awesome Hammertown Facebook page and blog, which is full of decorating tidbits and some pretty terrific recipes.
