Home Is Where the Art Is: Stonover Farm Summer Preview

We’ve spent many a blog post waxing poetic over the amazing diversity of cultural events here in the Berkshires, and the phenomenal talents who call this region home—from musicians to writers, actors, directors, and visual artists. On July 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., a group of painters, photographers, collage artists, and printmakers will get their moment in the colorful summer sunset at the Barn Gallery at Stonover Farm’s opening of Landscapes, Farmscapes, Cityscapes, Mindscapes.

Suky Werman, Stonover co-owner and Barn Gallery curator, says, “I’m always curious about the different ways artists investigate and interpret their environment—the strokes they use, the color they use, the lenses they use, the perspective they take—and how much is imagined and how much is representational.” So for this exhibit, she brought together a collection of artistic “escapes,” as interpreted by some very distinctive artists, including Maggie Mailer, Cynthia Wick, Rob MacInnis, Mike Metzger, Mike Glier, and Lisa Breslow.

Landscapes, Farmscapes, Cityscapes, Mindscapes runs through Labor Day, and a portion of sale proceeds will benefit another one of our favorite local organizations, IS183 Art School of the Berkshires. Join us at the free opening at the Barn Gallery on July 10, or be sure to visit the show this summer. And stay tuned right here on Fresh American as we get to know some of the participating artists.

I have a framed piece of a young man jumping in the air over tall grass, wearing just jeans, bare foot and shirtless, nice sun. Signed “Wick”

I am trying to find the artist. Any ideas?

Thank you,
David Henry

Hi, David! We do have a supertalented local artist named Cynthia Wick, but it’s difficult to tell if this is her work without seeing it. Can you snap a quick photo and e-mail it to us at info AT freshamerican DOT com?
