What’s not to love about cute canines in bling-happy costumes, complete with snazzy accessories and even jaunty toupees? Not. A. Thing. So you can imagine how giddy we were to see Paul Nathan’s Couture Dogs of New York, a hilariously over-the-top collection of pups decked out in a variety of rocker-tough, princess-elegant, casual-chic, and just plain out-there costumes dreamed up by their equally stylish human companions.
Paul, a commercial and fashion photographer, gets the tone—a mix of wow and what the . . .?—just right, and the interviews with the doting owners, some of whom spend upwards of $600 on an outfit, are worth a book of their own. He also sprinkles in information about the major players in pet fashion, like the crazy-colorful Bandit Rubio Designs—owner Anthony Rubio’s Chihuahuas, not coincidentally, are the book’s cover pups.
Check out the entertaining interview with Nathan on Fashionista, then pick up a copy of this coffee-table treasure trove for all your dog-loving friends and family members. It makes a fun, original holiday gift, and it’s guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come.
