When faced with a decorating dilemma like a particle-board staircase covered in dirty, dated, worn-out carpet, we like to ask ourselves, WWCGD (What would Centsational Girl do)? Lucky for us, Kate herself has answered this very question in a new blog post on creating a fun, functional, and—dare we say?—adorable hallway by installing a runner on a staircase.
After tearing out the old carpet, Kate painted the stair treads a beautiful sea green, then topped them off with Dash & Albert’s best-selling Stone Soup woven cotton rug. The runners pick up the green and blue tones in the paint, plus add some grounding taupes and tans—and a splash of chipper hot pink and tangerine to liven up the look.
Find out how Kate accomplished this stairway transformation right here.

How fun to see the project pop up here, thanks so much for the feature, that rug is the BEST! Cheers to many more installing D&A runners on their colorful stairs too. xo Kate
How much do we love this installation, Kate? We could count the ways for days! Congrats on yet another fantastic DIY. 🙂
Cute, cute cute! I could see applying your #Dash and Albert rugs as runners in a beach house
Thanks, Rosa! And we couldn’t agree more—so many fun, nautical styles to choose from!
