Daisy Mae 2001–2014: Our Bestest Girl

Daisy was a patient and loving mother to 10 puppies!!!!! They climbed on her, gnawed on her, and followed her everywhere, and there was never a growl or a bark. She would simply herd them to where she wanted them to be.

Daisy was our puppy before she became a mother.  She was always serious, always honest and always there to give and receive the love her humans needed to give or receive.

This first Dash & Albert catalog cover featured a very damp Daisy. This image prompted our saying that Daisy was the epitome of modern femininity.

When she wasn’t taking care of her pups or digging her way out of her pen, she modeled for many a rug shoot.

Daisy Duck, Daisy Bean, Dasiy Mae belle—she had a lot of nicknames and  was an avid TV and movie watcher. We spent many an evening on the sofa, waiting and watching for any kind of animal to come across the screen.

She loved the great outdoors—sun, snow, mud, and slush—and she relished her daily walks and always led the way. . . .

Daisy was a bold and beautiful girl.

She brought us great joy and great comfort.

She was our wonder dog.

She put up with our crazy costumes.

Never griping or growling.

She was always on the lookout for what lay ahead.

She will live forever in our hearts.

Oh! Just read about Dash, and hadn’t seen this. So very very sorry! Such a heartbreak to lose one, let alone both. Thinking of you.

So very very sorry. To lose both Daisy and Dash at the same time is too much to even comprehend. I hope you have kept some of her pups so there is still someone yo love. Xo Betsy. Ps. Live the rugs too

I am so sorry for your loss. They are members of our family, and thus, they leave holes in our hearts.

How hard this must be for you -can’t imagine the void.

Your photos are so heartwarming. I am so sorry for your loss, but it is evident that both Daisy and Dash were well loved members of your family. Whenever I lose one of my furry friends I take a cue from the book, The Ten Best Things about Barney, and write down those special memories. Your blog has taken this idea to an entirely different level. I feel your loss.

We can’t tell you how much it means to have the support of pet lovers and friends like you. Thank you for all the kind words!

I had just read about Dash, and now Daisy! We also lost two beloved pets within 6 weeks in the summer of 2013. We have finally turned the corner on our loss, and welcomed a new puppy. I wish you strength and love!
