Here are Googie and her brother Impy saying good-bye to their fellow litter mates in Clermont, Florida. Okay, you are probably wondering why the weird names. Googie was my mother’s nickname and everyone called her that. And Impy is a nickname my daughter, Charlotte, gave my stepfather and her grandfather. So it is fitting that Googie and Impy are together again in a new and furry incarnation.
I am greeting Googie, who is in the arms of the daughters of the breeders, Looney Tunes Bassets. We found the puppies on puppyfinder.com
Here we are in the car after picking up the love bunnies. They look calm here, but this shot was taken after they had stripped me of my shawl and my hair clip. I managed to keep my sunglasses, but, trust me, they were after those as well!
We went straight to the dog-friendly Homewood Suites near the Orlando airport and hunkered down for the night. Here is Googie doing her best impression of a rubber chicken!
Streeeeeeetch……….. And snooooooooze…………..
This is one of Googie’s signature moves: sitting on Impy’s head or lying fully on him. He really doesn’t seem to mind.
Here is Googie peacefully on my lap on our Delta flight home. She was pretty noisy in the airport, however! See the video above. We were definitely the loudest, cutest show on the Orlando airport road that morning! We deplaned at JFK and went quickly in search of a piddle area. But at a nippy 5 degrees, the pups were looking at me and thinking Huh?
The pups had their first encounter with snow once we got home. And they are still getting used to it.
Emmet is making his peace with them, but he is full-on exhausted. He is ever vigilant. It’s kind of like watching Puppies: The Movie in duplicate.
This was our first walk as a family. About five minutes after this shot was taken, both Bassets let us know that they would like to be carried home!
Happily spending time in front of the fire.
Or curled up on their WOUF.
