We adore statement jewelry, sometimes more so if that statement is made-you-look-twice subtle. We came across the work of multitalented painter and artist Ali Herrmann at a recent artisan fair, and we were immediately smitten with her unusual—and unusually affordable—upcycled earrings and necklaces.
Made from art transfers applied to the backs of old dominoes, the jewelry depicts everything from abstract color gradients to vintage kitsch (show your love of Wonder Bread!) and tribal-inspired patterns. We fell for her woodland pieces, which utilize tree rings, wood grains, and wildlowers rendered in striking warm tones. These accessible pieces—most strung on simple beaded chains and plain ear wires—are the essence of evocative, laid-back cool. Bonus points for jewelry that tells a story and has story.
