Leave it to the French to create all things hip yet timeless, forward-thinking, and effortlessly cool. From fashion to furniture, the French have a perspective all their own that somehow allows them to conjure up unforgettable pieces that simply work, no matter the time period or the environment. And while we’d never turn down a Jean Prouve lamp or a Charlotte Perriand chaise, today we’re crushing on Fermob, modern maker of some terrifically fun, colorful, and artistically designed indoor/outdoor furniture that has us pining for barbecue and porch-dinner-party season.
Fermob gets our thumbs-up for a bunch of reasons. Their eco-friendly design and production process uses recycled steel and aluminum for form the furniture, which is then painted with solvent-free, UV-proof powder paints in a zero-release facility. Fabrics are tear-proof and mold-resistant, and easy to clean with a sponge or brush and soapy water. The furniture is crazy-durable, and can take on both the weather and weekend (or weekday) lounging and entertaining. And Fermob furniture is also just plain fun to look at, from the circa-1880s bistro chair and table to the curvaceous bar cart and the swinging-sixties armchair with a woven back and seat.
Are we ready to deck out our porches, patios, and favorite indoor spaces with Fermob? Mais oui.
