If you believe that your home should be a scrapbook of your travels and experiences, then we’ve got a designer for you: Paula Smail, the colorfully creative brains behind Henry Road. Based in Los Angeles, the studio and store are packed with Smail’s original textile designs—influenced by the likes of Marimekko and traditional African clothing—and an eclectic mix of accessories and gifts found on her world wanderings.
We’re tickled by Smail’s bold, graphic design aesthetic, and especially like that she combines it with her love of vintage furniture. Whether it’s an antique French armchair covered in a patchwork of African hand block-printed fabric and her own fleur print, a pillow adorned with Uzbek embroidered Suzani fabric, or a refinished stool decked out in a royal purple and white circle print, Smail breathes new life into antiques and forgotten gems.
