Home Decorating Over the Moon

Over the Moon

A recent trip to Seattle and the peerless Pike Place Market unearthed an unexpected treasure: this humble yet powerful lotion bar from Deming, Washington-based Moon Valley Organics. Our discovery couldn’t come at a better time, with the notoriously fickle Berkshire climate—one day it’s a balmy 65 degrees, with ladybugs sunning themselves on our front doors, and the next it’s a rainy, teeth-chattering 42 degrees—and our last-ditch efforts at winterizing the yard and garden doing a number on our hands.

Moon Valley Organics’ Lotion Bar  is artisanally crafted with a short list of 100 percent natural, 100 percent pronounceable, and mostly organic ingredients, like calendula and comfrey, that moisturize and promote healing. Pop it out of the tin, let it warm up in your hands, and rub it in for an instant moisture boost. We’ve been using it pretty much nonstop since we got back, and we’ve definitely seen a difference in the softness and suppleness of our hands and cuticles. (Bonus: you can also gently smooth your lotioned hands over your hair for an extra bit of flyaway-taming pow.) The effects last for hours, and the smell is a light and refreshing blend of lemon and vanilla, so you won’t scare away coworkers or significant others. And that sweet little reusable, moon-faced tin? Perfect for all sorts of bits and bobs, like paperclips, tea bags, and hair accessories.

Here’s your chance to get in on the moisturizing action: the generous folks at Moon Valley Organics are giving one lucky reader their very own Lotion Bar! To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment below telling us what you like best about the fall season. The contest runs from now until 11:59 p.m. EST on November 7, 2012. View the full details.

Congratulations to our winner, Ellen from Minnesota!

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, but Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love going to my parent’s house and letting my kids give out candy AND trick or treat there! My mom makes homemade hot chocolate and we take turns giving out candy and taking the girls and my nephew trick or treating…I just love seeing all of the kids and watching my girls and spending time with everyone!!!

I love taking my beloved golden retriever, Chudleigh, for walks. We look forward to the fall season since the summer here in south Texas are unbearable. Chudleigh always takes one of his toys with him on his walk. When it’s sunny he also wears his “doggles.” He looks so cute! It brings a smile to everyone’s face that sees him. Some even stop to take his picture; I call them the “puparazzi.” Several people have told me that they had a bad day and seeing him made their day. I can’t think of a better way to spend my free time than to bring a smile to someones face!

Fall is fabulous because, finally I don’t suffer with allergies. And, there is a crispness to the air, and I can wear sweaters, and it is time for soup. Wonderful!

I love everything about Fall!!! It is my favorite time of year. The cool, crisp air, the colorful leaves, the foods of Fall, college football, school starts again, going to the apple orchard & pumpkin farms…. But the thing I love most about fall is Thanksgiving! I love it because it is the only holiday that is just about being thankful for life and the ones you love. No commercialization, candy or gifts! I love spending time prepping food with family members for days leading up to it, then spending the day with our families.

I love the colors! (But I don’t love the fact that fall means winter is around the corner – cold, wet and grey!)

Dee November 6, 2012 at 8:08 pm

The colors. Everything so much more vibrant now that the weather is cooler.

Fall or Autumn either way it’s the CRISP season! Crispy apples, crisp fall days of glorious sunlight illuminating the reds, golds, and greens! Warm apple crisp or crispy crunchy leaves crackling around your feet as you stroll through the magic of Autumn’s radiance! Feeling the chill on your skin and yet sticking out your face to the sun for its warm fall kisses. Pumpkins! Halloween & the treats of baking… Sleeping in a chilly room with a big downy comforter… lighting the first fire of the season in the fireplace… the scent of cinnamon infused pine cones…
