Let There Be Light with Blue Q—and a Giveaway!

When we find a designer or company we love, we stalk it obsessively. Lucky for us, Blue Q, founded by brothers Mitch and Seth Nash in 1988, is located pretty much around the corner in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which makes such shrub-prowling a breeze.

Not that we wouldn’t go out of our way for Blue Q’s irreverent, non-animal-tested bath and body products, gum, bags, T-shirts, tin banks, and other gifty items—after all, who wouldn’t love a little Bitch Slap Liquid Hand Soap, Jack the Ripper Lavatory Mist, or Understand Your Mother Breath Spray? And we can’t give enough props to a company who thinks perfectly acceptable office behavior includes wrapping a vacationing coworker’s desk in cellophane or whose daily posts on Facebook often leave us accidentally snorting our coffee. But these days, we’re even more thrilled to have the local hook-up for Blue Q’s bright, giddy, 100% recycled paper lanterns, which bring a dose of vibrantly unique design and humor to any space. With 18 designs to choose from, we dare you to not find one you covet.

Well, lust no more, because the fine folks at Blue Q are sponsoring a terrific giveaway! To be entered to win the hanging lantern of your choice, all you have to do is visit Blue Q and tell us in the comments below which of the lanterns is your favorite. Simple, no? The contest runs from now until 11:59 p.m. EST on October 28, 2012. View the full details.

Congratulations to our winner, Laurel from South Dakota!

The History of the Butterfly Lantern would be perfect in my bedroom. A very good friend passed away from cancer this year and he always made everyone he knew smile with his infectious humor, great spirits and candid outlook on life and death. Before he passed away, he stated he wanted to become a blue butterfly so that he could fly around the world and bring smiles to the friends he made. Every time I see a butterfly now, no matter the color, I stop, smile and feel happier. Having that gorgeous lantern in my room would make my whole day and nights brighter and happier!
