It’s Tea-lightful

With the cooler temps forcing us to pull our flannel pj pants and fuzzy robes out of storage, we’re savoring some delicious new ways to stay warm. Tops on our list this month is Siptea, seller of beautifully crafted organic loose teas.

Siptea which “celebrates the ancient art of tea drinking,” was founded by Laura Stewart. A former pastry chef and set-lighting tech for the film industry, Laura was working a crazy schedule on a TV show and pretty much irrigating herself with coffee when she experienced an irregular heartbeat. The scare inspired her to cut out high-caffeine drinks and go the healthy route with tea.

Siptea is a big supporter of sustainable business practices, fair trade, local businesses, local farms, artisans, and nonprofits. The company offers dozens of organic white, pan-fired and steamed green, oolong, black, and pu’erh teas, as well as several tisanes. We’re devotees of the Halo Flower (organic white tea balls that blossom in hot water), the delicate Orchid oolong, Silver Needle whiteVanilla Hojicha (steamed green with hints of white chocolate and vanilla), and the hearty Masala Chai (black tea with cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper).

Laura also runs a blog with articles on topics like brewing the perfect cup, crafting the best iced tea, re-steeping (who knew some teas are better the second time around?), the caffeine content of different teas, and even cooking with tea. Check it out, and tell her Fresh American sent you.

What’s your go-to beverage for a chilly fall day? Tell us in the comments below and you’ll be entered to win a cozy Sheepy Fleece robe (valued at $84)—perfect for snuggling up with a hot cup of tea! The contest runs from now until 11:59 p.m. EST on October 17, 2012. View the full details.

Congratulations to our winner, Hannah from California!

My favorite drink to enjoy is Egg Noggin tea. It is my go to tea when I am ready to read a good book and relax. Thanks for introducing me to Siptea. I have joined their blog and their tea flavors look amazing.

My go to beverage during a chilly afternoon or cold winter nights is Chrysanthemum tea. It’s a flower based herbal tea that I typically drink out of a clear glass teapot so that I can see the flowers within. The pale to bright yellow flowers float around the water just as if fall leaves were breezing through the sky. This tea is not only tasty but it’s also a colorful treat for the eyes :).

I love a mug of good strong tea with a little honey.
Here in Florida we have cold spurts. But a warm mug in my hands
on a chilly morning/evening is balm to my soul.
Florida hugs,

It is unquestionably a cup of tea. I think this favorite quote about tea sums it up perfectly:

Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. ~Thich Nat Hahn

for the fall I love apple cider–warmed up and then I add mandarin oranges and cinnamon sticks. It’s a two-fer: the house smells heavenly and I’m toasty warm!

I live in a foggy beach town on the west coast, where the weather is consistent and the people are peaceful. The most severe weather we get is the occasional el nino storm and of course the santa anna winds that you hear every Californian complain about. I love it. When I think of fall, I think of all that fog we have all year blown away by the santa annas so you can see straight out to the beautiful Channel Islands. My favorite go-to beverage for a blustery autumn day is a hot cup of peppermint green tea, served best in the biggest mug you can find! It is refreshing and pure, yet warms the soul. The thought of sitting on the hood of my car with my hot cup of tea, at the top of the hill over looking the sea is why I love fall the most. It gives me the view that inflicts those feelings of being so small and serene in such a beautiful, big world.
