Gold Coast

We’re all in for unexpected design touches. For this true-blue dining room, featured on Coastal Living, we fell head over heels for the farmhouse-with-an-architectural-twist chairs painted a who’d’ve-thunk-it goldenrod. With their distressed finish and plucky blue floral cushions, they’re as eye-catching as can be—especially when bellied up to a pure white laminate table.

Speaking of, we also adore the cobalt pendant lamp suspended above, which, no matter the angle, stands out against the suede-colored walls. Another preppy staple, gingham, makes an appearance on the neutral drapes. On the floor, the blue woven rug features two of our favorite preppy signatures: stripes and a graphic pattern, this time in a globally inspired medallion design.

Under the window, the cream sofa with the gracefully arched back is the perfect spot for relaxing with the newspaper after Sunday breakfast. A pile of pillows in shades of blue and white keep it lively, while the pops of coral in the throw pillows and the tall china cabinet are a genius counterpoint.

So inviting. Not contrived. Wonderful eclectic mix!
