Decorating with the Pantone Colors of 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity

We’ve had our disagreements in the past with some of the leading trend forecasters’ so-called colors of the year (Sand Dollar, anyone?), but we were pleasantly surprised when Pantone’s 2016 hue picks popped up in our in-box. While pink and blue might seem at the outset like a been there; done that . . . in the nursery, for about a zillion years choice, we’re loving the intense, saturated take on both hues, and think they’re a terrific starting point for a sophisticated, grown-up room palette.

Serenity, a cool and soothing blue with a distinct lavender undertone, is not only instantly eye-catching, but also surprisingly versatile—one peek at Pantone’s suggested color pairings, including both pastels and richer hues, and you’ll see how well it works year-round. Rose Quartz, by contrast, is a warmed-up shade of pink that lends an easy, welcoming vibe to a room. The combination has an airy, ethereal quality that does more to foster a sense of tranquility than any Keep Calm and Carry On poster ever could.

That’s why we love the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity for the bedroom. Here’s our take on decorating with Pantone’s Colors of the Year:

2. Savannah Linen Gauze Blush Bedspread
