If you joined us last week for our post on London’s trending color, electric blue, you might have thought, Cool color, but kind of challenging to work into my existing décor. Got any suggestions for other shades of blue that are a bit more versatile, but still pack a punch in interior decorating? As a matter of fact, we do: indigo, one of the Stateside colors of the moment.
We love that indigo—which falls between blue and violet in the visible spectrum, and is sort of the hipster sister to navy—just plain works in so many decorating styles, from clean and minimalist to vintage boho. With its depth and vibrancy, indigo has a calming quality that plays equally well in masculine and feminine rooms. The plant’s ancient roots in India, Rome, and even South America also lend it a hint of exoticism, as if you’ve just traveled the world and come back with some fabulously hand-dyed décor from faraway lands.
We’d use indigo in any room of the house, but we especially like its soothing effect in the bedroom and the dining room. Here are a few of Annie’s current favorite picks:
- Resist Dot Indigo coverlet
- Fretwork Navy wool rug
- Dots Navy wool/silk scarf
- Chadna Indigo decorative pillow
- Candlewick Ink decorative pillow
- Cameroon Indoor/Outdoor rug
- Resist Octagon throw
- Chambray Linen Ink duvet cover
