Clumbering Along

If you’re a fan of Annie’s, you probably know that she’s the ultimate dog lover (heck, she even named her Dash & Albert Rug Company  after her favorite four-footers). Her companions—Dash, Daisy, and Emmet—get the royal treatment at Casa Selke, and for the past couple of years have even participated in the canine social event of the season: the Northeast Clumber Picnic in Stockbridge, Massachusetts (founded by Sally Underwood-Miller, a former assistant of Annie’s and now the treasurer of the Clumber Spaniel Club of America.)

Okay, so it’s kind of hard to tell them all apart, but we think they’re incredibly cute, anyway. Enjoy our gallery, and don’t forget to enter your own adorable animal in our Fresh American Cute Pet Photo Contest!  Not only will you win bragging rights for your pet, but you’ll pick up some major Dash & Albert swag!

And speaking of swag, today we’re giving away a cozy, durable, 100% woven cotton Aquinnah throw! All you have to do is leave a comment below telling us your favorite breed of dog or your favorite celebrity dog! The contest runs from Friday, July 6, through 11:59 EST on Sunday, July 8. (Read the full rules here.)

Congratulations to our winner, Anna from Pennsylvania!

Our flatcoat (probably a mix; he was a rescue) was the sweetest and funniest dog ever. Whenever I think of “dog,” I naturally think of him first.

Beagles! Our beagle mix is a rescue dog. We love to hear him bay!

He’s so well behaved and loving that he has inspired many of our friends to rescue as well. 🙂

I will always hold a special place in my heart for Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. An All-American, beautiful, strong-willed, protective, amazing breed.

Mutts. The best dogs are mutts! We always go to the local shelter and bust one out and never had had a dud yet! LOL Currently, we have a Sheltie mix that’s incredibly sweet and just a joy, but have had Aussies, Labs, Lab mixes, too. All great dogs.

My favorite dog breed is Saint Bernards….we always had them in Northern Michigan where I grew up. They ran through the woods to our sledding hill, to tell us it was time to come home for dinner!

I love them all – but if I was FORCED to choose, I’d go with a fur baby: a shih tzu. So regal but perfect for snuggling too!

I love mutts. Our last few dogs have been rescue dogs, and they have the best personalities. They are extremely loving and thankful for a home and family.

My favorite dog breed is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I love this breed because they are very adaptable, friendly and loving, as well as rollicking bundles of fun. They have a sweet face to match their demeanor, with big melting soulful eyes. I am the very happy owner of a 2 1/2 year old Blenheim Cavalier named Pumpkin. He is the apple of my eye.

We have the most adorable English Cocker Spaniel named Sprocket. It’s a great breed and he is loyal, clever and surprisingly funny. He’s a cheery fellow with a tail that wag all the time. 🙂

Did you see on the news this past week the footage of that little dog that escaped and ran along the highway? Freedom! That little doggie was having the time of its life! I can’t remember the name of the breed that dog is, but that’s my favorite.

Also just regular loveable mutts.

After years of owning only rescued mutts and after the passing of our lovable Buddy and then saying “No more dogs!”….we caved in….to the most adorable Miniature Schnauzer.”Roscoe P. Coltrane” is smart, funny, affectionate, and actually he rescued us.

I have a Clumber Spaniel too — his name is Archie. Clumbers are my favorite breed: they are comical, awfully stubborn when they want to be, they drool like crazy, make great couch potatoes, and are just the sweetest of companions. Archie and I have never been to the Northeast Clumber picnic, but maybe someday! 🙂
