Best of the Best: Our Year-End Roundup

As we move ahead—on snowshoes and skis, thanks to a big dumper of New Year storm last week—into 2014, we can’t resist a little peek back at 2013. It was a banner year here at Fresh American, and you’re a huge part of that success! So, as a recap, we’re rounding up our most popular posts, chosen by you, our awesome readers and fans. If you didn’t get a chance to check them out the first time, here’s a great way to spend a few minutes during your Monday coffee break. And don’t forget to do sharesies with your friends.

Before we get started, we just  want to take a moment to say thanks for stopping by the blog every day, posting your insightful (and often LOL-funny) comments, and sharing with us on social media. Stick with us this year for even more tips, tricks, ideas, and inspirations straight from Annie and the entire Fresh American crew! Now, let’s get to it.

Centsational Girl Fabric-Covered Craft Box DIY

Kate, aka Centsational Girl, can do no wrong in our book. Whether offering decorating tips, Photoshop tutorials, shopping round-ups, or tours of the rooms in her elegant home, Kate’s got something worth reading (and rereading . . . and rereading) every time she posts. For this original how-to—created exclusively for us—she jazzed up some simple craft boxes with Annie’s fabric to make these terrific little organizers that can be used for pretty much anything, anywhere.

Stair Runner Installation

It’s amazing the difference a colorful rug makes. Annie’s Dash & Albert Rug Company customers had been asking for years for a tutorial on installing a runner on stairs, and it’s turned out to be off-the-charts popular with the rest of the blogosphere, too. We love that this project is not only pretty easy to do—it requires no special skills and only a few tools and supplies—but is also completely customizable, so you can get a one-of-a-kind look based on the rug (or rugs!) you choose.

My Big-Girl Dressing Room

Who loves a happy renovation story more than Fresh American fans? Nobody, that’s who. We’ve gotten so many e-mails and comments on Annie’s dream-come-true closet that we know you’re as addicted to her reno series as much as we are.

Make This Easy Ottoman Slipcover with Marian of Miss Mustard Seed!

Are you sensing a theme? Fresh American readers love a DIY, and this one—from Marian of Miss Mustard Seed, the blog for making furniture fabulous—is another terrific project you can do at home on a weekend afternoon. Who would’ve thought a tea towel could look so adorably chic?

Garage Reno

Think a fabulous guest space, complete with gorgeous views and private bath, and tucked in an unused space over the garage, can’t be accomplished? Annie tackled this challenge head-on, and the results are amazing. Go on, take a peek.

Hi There, Cupcake

Fluffy, sweet cake. Mascarpone frosting. Wine-soaked pears. Enough said. Pro baker Mikey T created this all-grown-up cupcake just for us, and we savored every tasty bite. And did we mention the baking tips on making your next batch look (and taste) as incredible as these?

Make This Tin Tile Headboard

Give your bedroom a dramatic makeover with this Old World–inspired headboard. Follow our DIY for putting together your own headboard from scratch, or, if you’ve already got a headboard that’s in need of a revamp, skip to the tiling section for the decorative finish. Volià—insta glam.

What’s a WOUF?

Judging from your e-mails and social media posts, y’all seem as pet-crazy as we are. If you missed the big announcement this summer, Annie’s new Fresh American product line now includes the WOUF, a washable, durable, scaled-down version of the pouf that’s perfect for pets . . . and all their messes. Learn more about these indoor/outdoor wonders—including how to clean them. Then head over to Dash & Albert Rug Company to shop all the latest sizes and patterns.

And speaking of that big storm, Pine Cone Hill is awesome. During the very height of the nor’easter, I ordered a sheepy fleece robe online. It was 10:35 am. And it arrived the very next afternoon. Now I am *really* enjoying the snowy weather – in my soft n fuzzy n pretty robe.
