Take Note: Limited Edition Dog Cards from Amanda Jones

If you went behind the scenes with us on the photo shoot with Annie’s new puppies and the extraordinary talented pet portraitist Amanda Jones, you’ve no doubt been wondering what that ridiculously cute photo session was all about. Well, we’re pretty darn excited to announce that Googie and Impy, Annie’s constant canine companions, are featured in Amanda’s new line of limited-edition note cards through The Dog Studio, to launch her Kickstarter campaign.

Amanda, who formerly worked in San Francisco doing kid, family, and wedding portraits, craved a change in direction in her work. So she invited some dog-loving friends to take their pets to her studio for a day of fun and shooting. “I was surprised at how good they came out and how much the owners loved them,” she recalls. “And pets aren’t self-conscious. They don’t care about their hair or their wrinkles, and they never fake a smile.” The photos were such a hit that Amanda made the switch to photographing animals full-time.

FAVE~

That was nearly 20 years ago. These days, most of Amanda’s clientele is dogs, with the occasional cat or child-and-furry-best-friend combo. She shoots in both her hip, laid-back studio in North Adams, Massachusetts, or on location across the country. (Check out her website to see if she’s coming to a city near you.) With her daughter growing up, Amanda decided to focus more on family time and less on travel, and hit on the idea of a stationery line. “I’m a big card, paper, and stationery love,” she explains. “But the typical dogs you see on stationery—in a hat or sunglasses, for example—that’s not a true representation of the pet. I wanted to do something that honors dogs as they are.

Amanda, who has also written and photographed four breed books and is working on a new book of pet portraits, is planning a series of note card collections featuring a range of adorable dog images, plus a variety of greeting cards. All feature her signature soulful dog portraits printed locally on high-quality stationery. Help Amanda meet her fund-raising goal and pick up your own cards and other dog-themed goodies!

I grew up with an older brother who was a Veterinarian for
almost 34 years…I love all animals and all breeds of them!
If I have to pick a favorite dog breed, it would have to be
Beagles. Our rescue dog is Daisy Beagle and she is remarkable…
Many thanks, Cindi

My favs are Bassets of course. I love seeing how Annie’s puppies have grown. I adopted their brother from the same litter and named him Jackson. Love him to death. Such an awesome boy. 🙂

Never – Ever – In my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would be one of those types of people, who would own an itsy bitsy teeny tiny Toy breed.. You know the types of “dogs” who are almost as big as hamsters?? Yeah, them… They are usually seen being toted around in a purse that is big enough to be their mobile dog house, and usually always have wardrobes that I myself would like to have! Never once did I think that I ever would or could fall head over heels in love with a teeny tiny sassy sweet Maltese who found her way into my heart and has become the light of my life in a way that only she could… And I might as well admit – She totally has one of the cutest wardrobes a little fluff ball could ever hope to have! <3
