Inspired By: The Magic of Marble

We often think Annie was a geologist in a previous life. (Need some evidence? Check out this and this.) So we were pretty excited to see her latest take on rockin’, nature-inspired home décor. Marble might be best known for the bath, kitchen, garden, and patio, but we think this timeless, elegant pattern looks amazing when translated onto soft, easygoing bedding.

The new Marble duvet cover and shams are special for a variety of reasons beyond sheer gorgeousness. For starters, the pattern is rendered on top-quality cotton in shades of pale aqua, grey, and taupe. To create it, skilled Indian artisans hand-paint giant swaths of fabric at a time, and then cut and sew it into duvets and shams. Because each piece of fabric is crafted individually, no two duvets or shams are alike. And therein lies much of their charm: the pieces all coordinate, but none are exact matches, which makes their pairing even more sophisticated. Marble works beautifully in a subtle, neutral-based palette of greys and white—perfect for fall and winter—and also has an affinity for summery shades like coral, canary, and turquoise, which makes it year-round versatile.
