Eric & Christopher Capsule Collection for Pine Cone Hill

Psst! Have you heard of Eric & Christopher? If not, you will soon, because we think they’re going to be huge stars in the home-décor worlds. Meet the creative brains and hands behind some incredibly fun screen-printed pillows, totes, and stretched-canvas prints, and an all-new capsule collection for Annie’s own Pine Cone Hill.

Pennsylvania native Eric Fausnacht is an award-winning acrylic painter. A couple of years ago at an art show outside Philadelphia, he met fellow lauded oil painter Christopher Kline, who was born in Bermuda but came to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as a kid, and even started his own screen-printing business, Kanika, while still in high school. Eric had been experimenting with paintings of farm animals, and had a lightbulb moment: why not try them on canvas pillows? He took his hand-made creations to a fair in Ohio, where they sold out in 25 minutes.

Eric decided to add more images to his collection, and tapped Chris for screen-printing. In their first six months of business, they sold more than 1,000 pillows. No joke. Thus was born a hilariously beautiful (or beautifully hilarious?) partnership. The two collaborate on photography, shooting hundreds of images of Eric’s own farm crew and those of local friends. When asked how they choose from among all those adorable subjects, Chris says, “We try to capture their personalities. For example, we went to a friend’s farm to photograph horses and piglets, and we saw this sheep, Cedric. The thing that caught our eye was that his best friend is a horse. He was shy and hiding underneath the horse. We knew he was perfect.”

Chris Photoshops the images and silk screens them onto fabrics, typically cotton canvas, by hand, which allows for natural variations from item to item. Eric then cuts and sews them on his kitchen table . . . sometimes with a little help from a feathered friend. He notes, “We’re doing our best to keep everything made in America. I love that I’m at my kitchen table making this, and Chris is printing in his studio. We’re just having fun with it. We love to see someone get a little chuckle out of what we do.” For the pillows, the result is a modern country feel that looks like a real photograph, with depth and dimension, with a cheeky factor that’s hard to come by in high-end décor.

For their line with Pine Cone Hill, Eric and Chris will be using a top-quality linen, and the pillows will be offered in several sizes. They’re also working on new lines with baby animals, zoo animals, and nautical themes. No matter the subject, they’ll keep on creating fun, heartwarming images. Chris says, “To be able to spread that type of energy into the world and it just reciprocates and gets returned to you even larger than you initially intended . . . Having fun, being creative and able to provide a positive topic of conversation in what we do day in and day out, that, I think, is what is so special about what we do.”

I was just looking over the great article and pictures again! Thanks so much! Sadly, my rooster, Newspaper (pictured) died this past week. He was a wonderfully kind and cared for his hens so well. We’ll miss him here at the farm.

So sorry to hear it, Eric! We adore our pets, too, and we hope this serves as a nice tribute to Newspaper. We bet he had an amazing life on your farm.

We are the very proud owners of one of their first rabbit pillows. She looks just like our (sadly departed) bunny, curiously looking out on the world. We smile every time we see her! Nice work capturing bunny fur in two dimensions.

Thanks for sharing, T! We’re continuously amazed by Eric & Christopher’s ability to capture the spirit of a favorite animal on textiles. And we’re happy you have a sweet reminder of your four-footed friend. 🙂
