Berkshire International Film Festival 2015: Your Exclusive Preview

We’re gearing up for a big arts and culture season here in the Berkshires, and what better way to kick it off than with the Berkshire International Film Festival? The 2015 program, from May 28 to 31, is the festival’s most ambitious yet, with 31 documentaries, 27 fiction features, and 20 short films from around the world, including Brazil, Egypt, South Korea, Ukraine, and Norway, and even from our own arts-rich region.

The films that will be showcased at BIFF include Meru, a harrowing documentary of three mountain climbers who wage mountain-climbing war against the Himalayas’ Mount Meru, and one of Annie’s top picks from the Sundance Film Festival; The End of the Tour, about the epic five-day interview between an intrepid Rolling Stone reporter (played by Jesse Eisenberg) and influential Infinite Jest novelist David Foster Wallace (played by Jason Segel); Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addicta peek behind the curtain at the larger-than-life world of the titular socialite and art collector; and Live from New York! a documentary that dives in to the cultural and historical impact of the 40-year-old TV show. The BIFF 2015 will also feature movies starring Richard Gere, Guy Pearce, Ben Vereen, Mamie Gummer, and Joan Cusack.

As if that—and the variety of receptions, exclusive filmmaker Q&As, and other special events—weren’t enough, BIFF is hosting its fourth annual Filmmakers Summit, for all 2015 film selection filmmakers, that both celebrates and supports their work and advancement. The two-day intensive will offer a rich slate of panel discussions, lectures, breakout sessions, and more led by well-regarded industry pros.
