When it comes to winter fashion, we like to keep a simple dictate in mind: this might be the Northeast, and we do love some insulated, multipurpose outdoor gear, but that doesn’t mean we have to live in lace-up snow boots and puffer parkas all season long. Some days we just want to put on a look that’s feminine, cute, and still weather appropriate, with a few fun focal points—like a great coat and a pretty scarf —to liven it up.
This look hits all the right notes between girly and tough enough to take on the frigid temps. We started with a simple A-line dress in a Parisian-chic red and ivory stripe, and topped it with a luxe, Chanel-inspired coat in a nubby modern texture. A pair of opaque tights and peep-toe booties help make the outfit functional for blustery days and snow-dusted sidewalks. Annie’s Cascading Roses scarf is the special touch here, adding some girly, vintage flair to the tomboyish dress. Likewise the pearl bracelets, especially the mix of medium and dainty pearl clusters, are a ladylike reminder that winter dressing can still be pretty dressing.
