We have three exhilarating words for die-hard lovers of vintage-inspired decorating, fantastically cool DIYs, and gorgeously refinished furniture: Miss Mustard Seed. That’s right, décor-loving sisters and brothers, superblogger Marian Parsons herself is joining us for the Pine Cone Hill 20th anniversary, and she’s styled this exclusive look, just in time for the season of cozy duvets, chunky scarves and boots, and pumpkin lattes.
For Marian, putting together this bedding look boiled down to a few simple ideas: “I love white bedding, but I find it’s more interesting to add a pop of color by layering quilts and pillows over the white basics,” she says. “The pattern and color of this gold quilt reminded me of antique quilts from Provence, so I was immediately drawn to that. Those who know my style know that I love blue and white, as well as European grain sacks, so I had to include that great pillow!
Marian originally planned to use the ripply white cotton quilt on her guest bed, but she loved it so much, she ended up borrowing it for her own room. “The texture of it is amazing, and the weight is perfect year round,” she explains. And though she usually sticks to a blue-and-white palette, she was excited to try the warmer golds in the quilt and decorative pillow, as well as the reds and other fall-foliage colors in the woven cotton rug. We love the combination’s easygoing chic, and it’s cool throwback vibe—like a bedroom you’d find in a charming little French countryside pensione. And the mix of warm and cool tones makes it appropriate for any season, as well as for gals and guys.
