How-To: Make This Bridesmaid Swag Bag

We’re suckers for a wedding. Indoors, outdoors, British Royals–enormous, on-a-Hawaiian-cliff intimate, lavish, casual chic—we love these romantic events in all their iterations and design possibilities. But if you’ve focused all your decorating and gifting efforts on the main event and now the bachelorette or Jack and Jill party  is sneaking up on you, never fear: we’ve got the easiest, most adorable bridesmaid swag bag you can put together—in five minutes flat.

Not only are these bridesmaid gift bags  incredibly cute, but they’re also packed with useful items your best gal pals will actually use, from cosmetic and tech cases to cozy loungewear. The tote— which comes in a bunch of fresh color combos and is incredibly roomy for its compact size—is our go-to bag for the office and on weekends, and you can fancy it up simply by tying a scarf around the handles, as we’ve done here. Of course, the scarf can also be worn separately as a shawl, around the neck, as a belt over a sheath or fit-and-flare dress, or as a headband (pretty and ethereal with the ends hanging down the back), making it a quadruple-duty wardrobe wonder.

We went summery with our palette for this gift bag, but you can adapt it to any season simply by changing up the colors and substituting a long-sleeved nightdress for the tank. Or turn it into a baby shower gift by including a receiving blanket instead of a throw, a breast-feeding friendly kimono-sleeve nightdress, and a plush rattle or toy for baby. Birthday gifts, a little something to say “congrats on your new job/promotion,”going-away gifts, back-to-school presents—we can think of dozens of ways to put together a swag bag for just about any occasion.

  1. Veena Grey tank top & shorts
  2. Fresh American Marseille laptop soft case
  3. Fresh American Marseille cosmetic bag
  4. Rockland scarf
  5. Fresh American Le Tote Denim/White petit
  6. Ibiza French Blue throw

Sorry, who does this?
Weddings in the Hamptons?
Bridesmaids aren’t doing it for the swag.
There better be a large budget to do this for every bridesmaid.
That said, the Fresh American items are affordable.

Thanks for writing, Ceviche Queen! (Mmmm…ceviche.) It’s true — bridesmaids aren’t in it for the swag, but we love the idea of giving our best friends a little gift for sharing a special day with us! We went with a bridesmaid theme for wedding season, but this gift bag can be adapted to all sorts of occasions, from birthdays to Mother’s Day, Christmas, to bon voyage parties.
