Home Decorating Rugs Through the Years: Neapolitan

Rugs Through the Years: Neapolitan

Welcome to a new monthly series on Fresh American Style that we’re calling, “Rugs Through the Years!” Throughout this year-long series, we’ll highlight 12 of our best-selling rugs, and present a few ways each fan favorite has been styled since its debut. As the cherry on top, we’ll be giving away the featured rug to one lucky reader each month!

This month, we’re highlighting our striped Neapolitan rug, offered in both cotton woven and indoor/outdoor styles. This best-seller lives up to its “sweet” name, with a soft and feminine color palette that we could just eat right up. Let’s take a look at three ways Neapolitan has been styled in years past…

Colorful DIY Headboard

Better Homes & Gardens Magazine published an online story detailing colorful DIY projects, one of them being how to easily dress-up a headboard… with our Neapolitan rug!

We just love how the sky blue walls perfectly match the light blue stripes in the rug, and how much pattern play is happening in the space: the stripes in the rug, the floral pillowcases and sheeting and the geometric quilt.  We definitely deem this bedroom #swoonworthy!

A Relaxed Hallway Vignette

What’s not to love about the way our Neapolitan rug looks in this cozy hallway nook?

We went on location in 2008 to shoot our Neapolitan rug in a historic Shaker home here in the Berkshires.  We love how the soft blue on the walls and creamy yellow door play beautifully with the nuanced palette of the rug.

Light & Bright Living Room

Design Blogger Kristy Wicks incorporated our Neapolitan rug in her warm and welcoming living room.

We love how Kristy chose aqua and fuchsia notes from the rug to use in coordinating accents like pillows and throws for punches of color on her white sofas. You can see why this image has been wildly popular on Pinterest!

We want to hear from you!

Which of the above Neapolitan “moments” is your favorite and why? Join the conversation in the comments below for your chance to win your very own Neapolitan Cotton Woven Rug!

UPDATE: This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to our lucky winner Melissa, who was chosen at random using the Random Result Generator!

I like the use of the rug on the headboard. I agree that the colors are soothing and perfect for a restful retreat. I enjoy seeing items used in an unexpected way. Although the rug is beautiful as a rug, isn’t it fun to see a creative use?

I love the DIY headboard. Such a clever idea and a great way to add color and texture to a space. Will definitely keep this little trick up my sleeve. I’m a bit of a Dash and Albert addict, I love the cotton rugs and use them everywhere. Love the colors. Wishing the cotton rugs came in a 3″x5″, could use them in so many ways.

We’ve been remodeling and just repainted our living room white- the fir paneling, the beams on the ceiling …all of it. This bright and cheerful rug would tie all the pops of color I have going through the room! So so good!

I love everything about this! We just painted our living room bright white- the fir paneling, the ceiling and beams, all of it! I love color and this would really tie all the fun pops of color in while keeping the coastal vibe we have going for all the warm weather in Charleston.

The DIY headboard is a fun and fresh take on how to use an area rug. The vertical stripes draw the eye upward towards the wall art and the colors in the rug bring the patterns and colors in the room together. This is a very sweet vintage look.

A relaxed hallway vignette. Sometimes those small hallway spaces are the most difficult to style. A great colorful rug like the Neapolitan is such a pretty and easy solution.

Mmm. I love it with the wedding ring quilt in the “colorful DIY headboard”…but I would put the rug on the floor! Lol! I love soft blue wall color in the room and the quilt reminds me of the one we had before we were married almost 22 years ago. I loved the quilt so much it faded so bad and the material is ripe and delicate. I loved it to death but can’t seem to part with it.

I loved the Neapolitan as a head board decoration! So many people think that a rug is meant for a floor, but what about a tapestry of sorts? Though for me, I would be using this rug in a new nursery. I am due in September 2017 with my last child. The colors are bright and just right for a nursery rug. I would be honored to have this if I am picked. Thank you!
