Great in Bed for 20 Years Guest Stylist: Kaylei McGaw of Lonny

When we met Kaylei McGaw, the styling brains behind many of the incredible photos you see on Lonny, we knew we’d found a kindred style spirit. Her love of the fabulous yet fuss-free is right up our decorating alley, so we couldn’t wait to see what she’d do with her pick of Pine Cone Hill bedding, as part of our Great in Bed for 20 Years anniversary celebration.

Since Kaylei has her hands on eclectic and colorful textiles day in and day out on the Lonny set, she’s been adhering to a minimalist white-bedding aesthetic. “Coming home to my most basic white palette was, for a while, refreshing,” she says. “It’s growing a bit tired, though, and I’m ready to inject a bit of pattern and color into the mix.”

As her base, she opted for cotton sheets in a classic white and gray toile pattern, and topped them with a traditional hunt-club-inspired pinstripe matelassé coverlet in the same tones. She added shams in white and sand (a color also echoed in the eco-friendly indoor/outdoor rugs) for a layered neutral look, then topped it all off with a lush linen duvet cover in a sky hue, and a retro knit throw. Everything about the collection is soothing and effortless, an invitation to kick off our shoes, change in to snuggly pajamas, exhale, and sink in. And with its mix of neutrals and pale blue, it’s not so far from Kaylei’s beloved basic white as to feel busy or cluttered.

“The mix of stripes, toile, and the linen bed skirt add a warmth that my previous stark-white bedding lacked,” Kaylei explains. “As it gets colder, I’ll continue to add more textures and throw pillows to cozy it up!” Spoken like a layer-loving stylist.

What’s your take? How would you cozy up this look through the chilliest winter months?

I’d take that throw all around the house. From the living room to read a book to the basement to watch a movie and then back upstairs to snuggle in bed.

This would look gorgeous in my guest bedroom. I have a lot of guests staying over for the holiday season and this would add a special touch to the room.

I love how the color palette is light and fresh – but the bed still looks so cozy!

Love this look! For wintertime, I’d add an extra cozy layer with the Awakening Down Ruffled Edge blanket. I’d never want to get up in the morning!

I’d use it as a lap blanket in every room & even in the car on long trips. Who doesn’t want a new blankie?!
